Xavier Foley and the Calidore String Quartet win prestigious national grant

March 25, 2018

Congratulations to 2018’s recipients of the Avery Fisher Career Grant, including double bassist and composer, Xavier Foley, and the Calidore String Quartet (cellist Estelle Choi, violinists Jeffrey Myers and Ryan Meehan, and violist Jeremy Berry). Foley performed at Tippet Rise in 2017 and will return to the art center to play in September of this year. The Calidore String Quartet will make its debut at Tippet Rise this season, also in September. Given to up to five instrumentalists and chamber music groups each year, the $25,000 grant was established by the arts philanthropist Avery Fisher in 1974 and is administered by Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. It is awarded annually to young musicians who exhibit outstanding potential for major solo careers. To watch this year’s awards ceremony, which took place on March 22, please click on the link below. Xavier and members of the Calidore Quartet, we are thrilled for you!
