Tippet Rise may be closed for now, but the music continues!
July 9, 2020
We invite you to enjoy world-class music in the comfort of your living room through our new online concert series, Tippet Rise & Friends at Home. The series, offered for free to music lovers around the world, delivers video streams of some of the most beloved concerts from past seasons at the art center. Unreleased until now, the streams are made available monthly at 6pm Mountain Time on a Thursday and some feature special intermission content, including conversations with musicians and segments showcasing the art center’s outdoor sculptures, architectural structures, and landscapes.
On Thursday, July 16, Tippet Rise & Friends at Home presented a concert by superstar pianist Behzod Abduraimov, described by The Independent as “the most perfectly accomplished pianist of his generation.” Born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Behzod performed at the art center on August 16, 2019. His debut concert here, with music by Liszt, Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, and Mussorgsky and two wonderful encores, drew standing ovations and ecstatic applause. Behzod’s performance will remain on our website, available for streaming on demand, through mid-October. Other concerts in the Tippet Rise & Friends at Home series will also remain available to stream.
About the virtual concert series, Tippet Rise co-founder Cathy Halstead said, “While we are saddened that we are unable to welcome our concertgoers to Tippet Rise this summer, we look forward to still sharing music and conversations through these streams. The digital season allows us to both support musicians and serve those who love music and seek solace in its notes.”
Tippet Rise & Friends at Home will carry on through the summer with performances by pianist Stephen Hough and the Escher String Quartet. The series will continue through fall and winter, featuring concerts by violinist Vadim Gluzman, cellist Johannes Moser, pianists Yevgeny Sudbin and George Li, and the JACK Quartet. To visit the Tippet Rise & Friends at Home page on our website, please click on “More info” below.
