Spotlight: Architecture & Design Film Festival founder, Kyle Bergman

After stops in Los Angeles, Seoul, and New Orleans, the Architecture & Design Film Festival (ADFF) comes to Tippet Rise September 22, 23, and 24. Featuring screenings that celebrate the creative spirit that drives architecture and design, the festival also brings together design luminaries from across the country for scheduled and impromptu conversations. We’ll highlight some of those people here in the coming weeks, beginning with ADFF’s founder and director, Kyle Bergman.
An architect, Kyle Bergman founded ADFF in 2008. Bergman says he has long recognized the connections between architecture and film and sees the festival as a unique opportunity to educate, entertain, and engage people who are passionate about the world of architecture and design. Bergman also serves as Vice President on the board of Pacific Rim Parks Organization, whose mission is to use the process of designing and building parks as a tool to connect communities around the Pacific. He has been involved with design education since 1994 when he created and moderated an architectural lecture series about the design/build process for the Smithsonian Institute. In 1999, Bergman founded Alt Spec, a publishing company that produced a visual resource of unique and alternative products for architects and designers. He also produced a play entitled The Glass House, about the design and construction of two famous homes, Mies van der Rohe’s Farnsworth House and Phillip Johnson’s Glass House.
