Land & Sky: The Inspiration of Tippet Rise is once again available to watch online!
November 23, 2021
Before ever visiting Tippet Rise in person, filmmaker Hamid Shams used cutting edge technology and his vast and cinematic imagination to create Land & SkyThe Inspiration of Tippet Rise, capturing the spirit and vision of the art center in the process. At roughly 90-minutes long, the film features breathtaking new footage of the landscape and sculptures. It also includes interviews of a handful of the people who have helped to shape Tippet Rise, including architects Francis Kéré, Débora Mesa, and Antón García Abril and artists Mark di Suvero, Patrick Dougherty, and Stephen Talasnik. Gorgeous performances by the Calidore String Quartet, bassist Xavier Foley, pianist Anne-Marie McDermott, and others are woven through the narrative.
Land & Sky was chosen to screen at this year’s Lund International Architecture Film Festival, which took place October 15-17 in Lund, Sweden and through virtual screenings. It was included under “Official Selection” in the feature documentary category. And now the film is available again to watch here, via our Virtual Events page.
The founders of Tippet Rise, Cathy and Peter Halstead, were introduced to Hamid’s work through a film he directed in 2019 for our friends at the Colburn School in Los Angeles. The School collaborated generously with Tippet Rise to bring this project to life. To watch Land & Sky, please click on “More info” below!
