July’s episode of the Tippet Rise podcast is now available online
July 7, 2019
In the summer of 2018, three musicians traveled to Tippet Rise to perform together, playing works by Mozart, Gubaidulina, Shostakovich, Schnittke, Tchaikovsky and others. Our latest podcast, From Far-Reaching Places, shares a wide-ranging conversation between these musicians. Pianist Yevgeny Sudbin, cellist Johannes Moser, and violinist Vadim Gluzman discuss finding common ground as a piano trio, Mozart’s violin sonatas, creating “home” wherever you go, the Russian Orthodox composer Sofia Gubaidulina, and so much more.
Of Tippet Rise Art Center, co-founders Peter and Cathy Halstead wrote: Tippet Rise is “an intersection where art, music, land, sky, and poetry can weave together into an algorithm which is greater than the sum of its parts.” The Tippet Rise Podcast explores these seemingly disparate elements. Beginning with our first episode, Encores, released almost a year ago to the day, to Peter Halstead’s musings on Robert Schumann’s “Clara” theme, the podcast offers a window into the fascinating world of classical music, to poetry, and to landscape.
