A preview of the 2026 season
January 6, 2026
With the arrival of the new year, we are delighted to share a preview of the 2026 season at Tippet Rise. From June 19 to October 4, visitors can once again enjoy hiking, biking, and van tours to experience the large-scale artworks installed within the landscape— including two exciting sculptures: Mark di Suvero’s Scythian (1979-1995) and Alicja Kwade’s new work, Causa Formalis (2025).
Scythian will be accessible to the public for the first time since an exhibition at Storm King Art Center in 1995/96. The piece, the fourth sculpture by Mark di Suvero at Tippet Rise, will be installed within the Cottonwood Campus, where its large kinetic spinner top, made from reclaimed steel elements, will rotate in the wind. Visitors will be able to approach the sculpture from both below and above, allowing Scythian to present a striking skyline silhouette while also framing vistas of prairie grasses and distant views.
Alicja Kwade’s Causa Formalis (2025) is a new work by the internationally celebrated Polish German artist. Made of patinated bronze and powder-coated stainless steel, Causa Formalis will be installed at the base of a gentle swale. Its slender and organic form will engage closely with the grassy surroundings, while offering expansive views across the dramatic landscape of Murphy Canyon.
Co-founders, Cathy and Peter Halstead shared, “Tippet Rise has always served as a place for conversation, between our musicians and our visitors, between one artist and another, between objects and how they relate to the land and sky.
“As we embark on our eleventh season, the arrival of Mark di Suvero’s Scythian and Alicja Kwade’s Causa Formalis introduces two powerful new perspectives into the intersection of space, time, and human actions, which both sculptors have spent their lives trying to define. It is a profound privilege sharing these experiences with our visitors.”

2026 Concert Season Highlights
The 2026 concert season will take place over five weeks from August 14 through September 13 and will feature an exceptional lineup of established and emerging musicians performing repertoire that spans centuries and styles—from Joseph Haydn and Frédéric Chopin to Dobrinka Tabakova, Caroline Shaw, and Sigur Rós.
The season will begin with a mini festival weekend featuring three monumental works: Franz Schubert’s Octet and one of his last piano sonatas, as well as an inventive presentation of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Septet interspersed with works by Caroline Shaw, Svante Henryson, and a world premiere and Tippet Rise commission by Jessica Meyer. These programs bring together some of the most sought-after American musicians, including violinists Alexi Kenney and Yura Lee; violist Natalie Loughran; cellist Oliver Herbert; bassist Nina Bernat; clarinetist Yasmina Spiegelberg; bassoonist Eleni Katz; hornist David Byrd-Marrow; and pianist and artistic advisor Pedja Mužijević.
Tippet Rise will welcome for the first time the renowned Takács Quartet and pianist Yekwon Sunwoo, who made his Carnegie Hall recital debut last season. Returning artists include the charismatic piano duo Anderson & Roe, the genre-defying brass quartet The Westerlies, as well as one of today’s fastest-rising stars, pianist Yulianna Avdeeva.
Complete program details will be announced in mid-March, when registration for the art center’s randomized drawing for concert tickets opens on the Tippet Rise website.

Recording Projects and Creative Residencies
Winter and spring at Tippet Rise are often reserved for recording projects and creative residencies. One such project is cellist Camille Thomas and pianist Julien Brocal’s new digital album RENDEZ-VOUS, which was recorded in the Olivier Music Barn and produced by our in-house team. The album, distributed by Decca Records/Universal Music, reimagines iconic classical works by pairing them with new compositions by the artists. The first four tracks and accompanying films have been released and we invite you to follow along on social media to hear and watch additional tracks as they are released through April 2026!
Tippet Rise also continues its mission to support artists through creative residencies, each of which are individually tailored to provide artists with time and space to create, as well as opportunities for pop-up performances and public workshops. In October, we welcomed flutist and composer Claire Chase, along with composer Annea Lockwood and audio engineer Caley Monahon-Ward, where they worked on their collaborative project, Elwah!. This past December, the quartet Owls was also in residence at the art center to write and develop new projects.
There will be much more to come in the months ahead—we look forward to sharing it with you!
