In residence at the New England Conservatory since 1992, the Borromeo String Quartet performs throughout North and South America, Europe, and Asia. On Saturday beneath the Domo, the ensemble will play Beethoven's "Quartetto Serioso," about which the musicologist Joseph Kerman wrote, "Everything unessential falls victim, leaving a residue of extreme concentration, in dangerously high tension. But strength, not strain, is the commanding impression."
