Tippet Rise Launches 2023 Season
June 16, 2023
Today marks the start of the 2023 summer season at Tippet Rise! The rolling hills and valleys are as green and lush as ever right now, and we are thrilled to welcome guests for hiking and biking, sculpture van tours, and self-guided tours of the Cottonwood Campus.
Hiking, Biking, and Cottonwood Campus Self-Guided Tours
Each week this summer we will add new hiking and biking reservations to the website here. Reservations are also available for self-guided tours of our main Cottonwood Campus, which features gentle trails that lead to artworks by Alexander Calder, Patrick Dougherty, Francis Kéré, Marie Watt, and Ai Weiwei.
Visitors will have the chance to visit two new sculptures in the Tippet Rise landscape starting this July. Louise Nevelson’s magnificent work Trilogy (1978) will be in a gently rising valley just beyond the Cottonwood Campus. Farther out on the ranch, Alexander Liberman’s striking Archway II (1984/2016) will be sited in a dramatic saddle overlooking the Beartooth Mountains.
2023 Concert Season
Our concert season takes place August 18 through September 17, and features an exciting line-up of Tippet Rise debuts and returning artists performing a wide range of repertoire. While the ticket drawing has closed, any tickets returned to the box office will be placed for sale on our website on a first-come, first-served basis throughout the concert season.
The Cirrus and Nimbus Building Projects
Visitors to Tippet Rise this year may notice construction taking place near the south parking lot. A new building project, designed by Laura Viklund of Gunnstock Timber Frames, includes four additional artist residences and rehearsal spaces for musicians. Cirrus will be a barn for the Tippet Rise team which contains workspaces, video and audio editing suites, and a new mastering studio designed in partnership with Arup. This studio will allow us to record in new spatial and immersive formats. Adjacent to Cirrus will be Nimbus, four cottages which will host string quartets or ensembles in comfortable quarters where they can rehearse together before concerts, recording projects, or residencies. This project also allows Tippet Rise to expand the energy efficiency systems which contribute to our goal of carbon neutrality. We anticipate construction to be completed by June 2024.
We hope to see you this summer! Please sign-up for our e-newsletter to learn about other upcoming events and programs. And for those who cannot join us in person this year, we invite you to enjoy our digital content, including social media posts on Instagram and Facebook, performance films from previous seasons, and our newly released film series Relevance of Place on our YouTube channel and in our Film Library.
