Our summer season is about to begin, plus Geo-Paleo Tours!

June 2, 2022

In just one week, we will open the front gates at Tippet Rise Art Center and welcome visitors for a much-anticipated summer season of art, music, exploration, and what we hope will be memorable, impactful, and fun experiences.

For those of us fortunate enough to be a part of the Tippet Rise team, it is an incredibly rewarding moment. Much of our year is spent working and planning behind-the-scenes – from tending to the ranchland and the animals that inhabit it in all seasons, to education outreach in our communities; from finalizing repertoire with musicians around the world, to producing recording and film projects for our website; and from coordinating the shipment of new artworks, to improving our 15-mile trail system and our facilities.

Much of this activity brings us to the moment on Friday, June 10 when Tippet Rise opens for hiking, biking, and sculpture van tours of our 12,500-acre ranch.

We cherish these long and busy summer days. June and July will see the installation of three dramatic new sculptures, including Whale’s Cry by Mark di Suvero; the Folds by Ensamble Studio; and Iron Tree by Ai Weiwei. Our friend and artist Patrick Dougherty also returns in July to revitalize the exterior of his beloved work Daydreams. Then on Friday, August 26 our five-week music season (running through September 25) begins, featuring 15 concerts by a remarkable group of internationally renowned musicians.

Geo-Paleo Tours of Tippet Rise
We are also excited to be able to offer a limited number of Geo-Paleo Tours of Tippet Rise once again this year. Led by our wonderful partners at the Yellowstone Bighorn Research Association (YBRA), this experience allows guests to gain an understanding of the various geological and paleontological features scattered across art center—features that offer clues to and glimpses of the geologic processes that formed this extraordinary region.

The 2022 Geo-Paleo Tours will take place on three upcoming Thursdays – June 30, July 28, and August 18, beginning at 9 am and lasting approximately 2.5 hours. Reservations, which are required, can be made starting today, June 2, on our website. The cost is $10 per person, free to guests 21 and under (reservations are still required for those 21 and under). To learn more about the YBRA and their geologic work in our region, visit ybra.org.
