Just around the corner: Season Three at the art center
June 15, 2018
On June 29, the gates to Tippet Rise open for a glorious summer of art, music and nature at the edge of the Beartooth Mountains! Friday, Saturday and Sunday sculpture tours begin on the 29th and continue through the summer. The incredible 2018 concert series begins July 6.
Touring the Sculptures at Tippet Rise
Visitors can tour the ranch and its monumental sculptures by shuttle van, or via nine miles of hiking and biking trails that loop and dip through the canyons and hills. Whether touring by foot, bicycle or van, space is limited, and reservations must be made in advance of your tour. For more information and to register, please click (above) on “Take a Tour”
Music at the Art Center
Featuring two dozen programs performed by internationally celebrated musicians and outstanding emerging artists, 2018’s concert series begins July 6 with French pianist Julien Brocal in his Tippet Rise debut and ends September 8 with beloved Tippet Rise alum Anne-Marie McDermott performing pieces by Bach and Mozart. It also includes the world premiere of String Quartet No. 4 (musica universalis) by Aaron Jay Kernis, the second of three works he is composing for the art center. The season’s concert tickets sold out through a randomized drawing held in the spring. Should seats become available through cancellations, those tickets will be sold here, on the Events page of our website, on a first-come, first-serve basis for $10 each for adults and free to anyone 21 and under. Performances take place primarily in the 150-seat Olivier Music Barn, its scale and proportions inspired by the powerful, acoustically rich concert spaces of the 18th century where Haydn’s and Mozart’s works were performed. Weather permitting, Saturday morning concerts take place at the open-air Domo, designed by Ensamble Studio.
Dining at Tippet Rise
Concert ticketholders and tour guests can purchase morning pastries, coffee and tea, plus lunch and dinner, as well as wine and craft beer. All fare is prepared by Cordon Bleu-trained Chef Nick Goldman and Chef Wendi Reed of Wild Flower Kitchen and is served in Will’s Shed, adjacent to the Olivier Music Barn.
