June 11, 2021
First screened online on Thursday, June 10, A Flight of Winds remains available to watch online! The virtual concert revisits an exciting performance in the Olivier Music Barn in 2017 by a woodwind quintet made up of world-renowned musicians and rising stars alike.
Event Details
In August of 2017, Jessica Sindell, the assistant principal flutist with the Cleveland Orchestra, recruited an extraordinary ensemble to perform at Tippet Rise: the celebrated Brazilian oboist Alex Klein, principal oboe player at the Calgary Philharmonic, Mark Nuccio, principal clarinet with the Houston Symphony, horn player Daniel Hawkins of the San Francisco Symphony, and bassoonist Frank Morelli, an accomplished soloist, beloved teacher, and the first bassonist to be awarded a doctorate by the Juilliard School.
The quintet performed a wide-ranging program that included Morelli’s brilliant arrangement for wind quintet of Maurice Ravel’s Ma mère l’Oye, interspersed with solo pieces by Antal Doráti, and other works. It is a gorgeous concert, by turns moving and whimsical. For more information and to attend, please click here.
The concert will remain available to stream on our Virtual Events page whenever you wish.
