2018’s concert series is about to begin!

July 2, 2018

This Friday, July 6, celebrated French pianist Julien Brocal will give the first concert of the 2018 season at Tippet Rise. Of Julien, Gramophone said, he is “a musician of distinction whose imaginative, intelligent and cultivated piano-playing is at once seductive and authoritative…” Although Julien has not yet performed at the art center, he has recorded here: a wonderful CD, titled Reflections, featuring works by Mompou and Ravel.

On Saturday, we welcome violinist Caroline Goulding who returns for her third season at Tippet Rise. Caroline, who has consistently wowed us since her first performance at Tippet Rise, has become a beloved artist to our guests and a friend to our staff. On Saturday morning, Caroline will give a solo performance at Ensamble Studio’s acoustic sculptural structure, the Domo. Saturday evening, she and Julien will play together in the Olivier Music Barn. Between the three performances this weekend, Julien and Caroline will explore works ranging from Bach to Bartók. We are thrilled to welcome both artists back to Tippet Rise!

2018’s music season—the third at Tippet Rise, which opened to the public in 2016—features two dozen programs performed by internationally celebrated musicians and outstanding emerging artists. The season runs through the summer, ending September 8 with a performance by the extraordinary pianist Anne-Marie McDermott, playing pieces by Bach and Mozart. Season Three also includes the world premiere of String Quartet No. 4 (musica universalis) by Aaron Jay Kernis, the second of three works he is composing for the art center.

Season Three’s concert tickets sold out through a randomized drawing held in the spring. Should seats become available through cancellations, those tickets will be sold on the Events page of our website (link above, right), on a first-come, first-serve basis for $10 each for adults and free to anyone 21 and under.
