This program includes works by two early 20th century composers – Ernő Dohnányi, the Hungarian pianist who was described by the Miami Herald in 1958 as the “last surviving representative of the romantic age of Brahms, Schumann, and Wagner,”
and Amy Beach, one of the first American female composers to reach notoriety. This performance also includes the world premiere of Two Pastorals for Violin and Piano – the ninth of ten works commissioned by Tippet Rise in 2022 from Valentyn Silvestrov, Ukraine’s leading living composer.
