STEPHEN HOUGH: Piano Quintet (Les Noces Rouges)
This performance brings together the Viano Quartet, making their Tippet Rise debut, and pianist and virtuoso Sir Stephen Hough, in his fourth time participating in the art center’s concert season.
The Viano Quartet are among the most sought-after ensembles today and currently in-residence at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Bowers Program, where they premiered Sir Stephen Hough’s quintet composition with him in 2024. Named by The Economist as one of Twenty Living Polymaths, Hough was the first classical performer to be awarded a MacArthur Fellowship (2001). In 2014 he was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) and was knighted in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in 2022.
