Hailed for “extraordinary narrative and poetic gifts” and interpretations that are “fresh, incisive and characterfully alive” (Gramophone), he is committed to making an impact on the world through his music-making. Now studying in the Harvard-New England Conservatory Dual Degree Program, Stephenson grew up in New York City and began piano lessons and age 7. He was accepted into the Julliard Outreach Music Advance Program for underprivileged children the next year and credits the generous support of community programs with providing him musical inspiration and resources along the way. Making his Tippet Rise debut, Stephenson will perform an uplifting program including Bach’s Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring, Beethoven’s Sonata Appassionata, virtuoso transcriptions of works by Johann Straus and George Gershwin, as well as Hiromi Buhara’s The Tom and Jerry Show.
