Description
Our 2022 concert series concludes with a stirring performance by violinist and producer Johnny Gandelsman. A member of the Silkroad Ensemble with Yo-Yo Ma and a founding member of Brooklyn Rider, Gandelsman is passionate about a variety of musical languages, and has appeared with a range of artists including Bono, David Byrne, Renee Fleming, Rhiannon Giddens, I’m With Her, Christian McBride, and many others. His program will include a selection of works from This is America, a project he launched during the early days of the pandemic to celebrate the diversity of the United States. Over the past two years he has worked with organizations to commission more than 20 works for solo violin by composers from across the country, including Dólii for Guitar – the third world premiere of a Tippet Rise commission to be presented this season – written by Bojan Louis, a poet, composer, and member of the Navajo Nation.
