Calidore String Quartet & Gryphon Trio

Description

The acclaimed Calidore String Quartet, winners of the 2018 Avery Fisher Career Grant and currently in residence with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s The Bowers Program, joins Canada’s Gryphon Trio, winner of three Juno Awards for Classical Album of the Year for this mixed program. It features the Gryphon Trio in Kelly-Marie Murphy’s Give Me Phoenix Wings to Fly, a work originally commissioned by them in 1997, and the Calidore String Quartet with Gryphon Trio cellist Roman Borys in Schubert’s epic String Quintet in C Major. We are so happy to welcome both gifted ensembles back to Tippet Rise this year.
