Description
Described by Musical America as “clearly one to watch” and a recipient of a 2021 Avery Fisher Career Grant, the New Zealand violinist Geneva Lewis will make her Tippet Rise debut together with pianist, performing arts entrepreneur, and composer Audrey Vardanega, founder and artistic director of Musaics of the Bay and co-founder of Arium TV. The two will perform William Grant Still’s Suite for Violin and Piano, a piece inspired by artworks associated with the Harlem Renaissance of the 1930s; contemporary composer Gareth Farr’s Wakatipu for Solo Violin, which refers to Lake Wakatipu in Queenstown, New Zealand; and Schumann’s dramatic Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 2 in D Minor.
