Description
It is our pleasure to welcome back to Tippet Rise the members of the celebrated Canadian ensemble, the St. Lawrence String Quartet. According to The New Yorker, “no other North American quartet plays the music of Haydn with more intelligence, expressivity, and force.” On Friday, Geoff Nuttall, violin, Owen Dalby, violin, Lesley Robertson, viola, and Christopher Costanza, cello, will indeed perform works by Joseph Haydn as well as Latin-themed contemporary works by two of today’s most celebrated composers: Jonathan Berger and Osvaldo Golijov. Established in Toronto in 1989, the St. Lawrence String Quartet has made prize-winning recordings for EMI, earned two Grammy nominations, and, since 1998, served as ensemble-in-residence at Stanford University.
