The Olivier Music Barn, 12:00 PM

Program

Unearthed will be open from 12:00 AM – 5:00 PM on Sunday, October 21st, and 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM on Friday, October 26, Saturday, October 27 and Sunday, October 28.

We are thrilled to host our first-ever exhibition at Tippet Rise Art Center: a sculpture installation in the Olivier Music Barn by artist Stephen Talasnik, titled Unearthed. The show features a new work called Hive, a site-specific, organic, habitable, architectural sculpture that was hand-woven in situ and serves as a performance space large enough to accommodate a solo performer. Unearthed also includes a collection of models for the large-scale project Talasnik designed for Tippet Rise, Satellite #5: Pioneer (2016), as well as models from his original Satellite Series. Talasnik’s sculptures currently on display in the Olivier Music Barn, Archeology (2012) and Galaxy (2014), are also included. The show coincides with the release of Talasnik’s newest monograph, Unearthed: Stephen Talasnik by Monacelli Press, a book that explores the artist’s drawings, sculptures, and installations, from his monolithic ephemeral amphitheater Stream at Storm King Art Center in 2009 to his most recent work at Tippet Rise. Hive is part of an ongoing concept series of hand-woven habitats by Talasnik, traveling next to the Architektur Galerie Berlin. Performances, educational opportunities, and conversations will take place in the exhibition to allow for meaningful interactions with the sculptures.

All events take place in the Olivier Music Barn. Touring the exhibition is free, but reservations to do so are required.
