Opportunity Overview
Tippet Rise Art Center is looking for an individual with experience in and a passion for organizing and preserving institutional assets and history. This unique organization and job opportunity will combine working in classical music media, site-specific outdoor sculpture and smaller artworks and objects, a mission-driven book library, and working with a dynamic and energetic team set in immediate proximity of nature and outdoor activities. The Archivist & Librarian will be responsible for creating and implementing an archives and collections management strategy for various types of assets including records, audio recordings, video, photos, art and artifacts, and books. Position Summary
The Archivist & Librarian will be responsible for creating and implementing an archives and collections management strategy for various types of assets including records, audio recordings, video, photos, art and artifacts, and books. The Archivist will develop policies and conventions for the archives based on industry best practices as well as create a database and finding aids. The employee will collaborate with team members from across the organization as well as artists, poets, or guests in residence to source materials from the archives and libraries as well as fulfill requests for assets both internally and with external partners. The Archivist Librarian will be a key team player assisting with the efficiency of organizational information and materials as well as leading the preservation of institutional assets and history.
Duties and Responsibilities
Media:
• Setup and maintain media file management on local severs and cloud.
• Ingest and process video, audio, and photo media.
• Name and tag files with proper metadata.
• Work through back dated media to modernize archive with updated standards.
• Monitor and maintain media archive database for video, audio, and photo data.
• Monitor and maintain Archive storage infrastructure and devices.
• Fulfill requests for audio, video, or photo assets both internally and externally.
Records, Art and Artifacts:
• Work with the Trustees and Directors to create a records and archives collection management strategy for physical, digitized, and born digital material.
• Draft clear archives policies and practices and workflows and help train and educate staff in utilizing them.
• Collaborate with staff organization-wide to achieve standardized preservation and access to born digital, digitized, and physical archival material.
• Establish Tippet Rise archives for historical or legacy records, files, media, art and artifacts, and additional information deemed relevant.
• Establish a repository for physical records, artifacts, and ephemera.
• Establish a digital repository for archivable born digital and digitized records.
• Create and maintain art and artifacts summary database.
• Create dedicated physical and digital artists files.
• Identify, process, and catalogue new and backlog of the organizations archival documentation in conventional and digital formats, including the accessioning and de-accessioning of archival materials.
• Support internal and external access to Tippet Rise Archives as needed for staff, researchers, artists, musicians, and outside collaborators.
• Manage physical security and preservation of the Archives.
• Revise policies, procedures, and standards as needed in order to sustain the Archives.
• Manage the preservation and administration of archival records at all levels across organization and in any form, including the collection of artistic, administrative, legal, and fiscal documents, not currently in use.
• Facilitate ongoing preparation and updating of inventories, guides, and other retrieval aids in accordance with accepted archival standards.
Library:
• Work with Directors to create library policies and practices that facilitate the user experience and align with goals and operations.
• Update and maintain library catalogues for multiple locations.
• Determine organization and help shelve books in new library.
• Re-shelving books as needed.
• Work with Trustees and Directors to procure new books and place in libraries.
• Assist library users as needed.
• Distribution of books to other libraries, institutions, and guests as needed.
Other Duties:
• Support and help with artist residencies at Tippet Rise.
• Work with Tippet Rise’s sister organization, The Adrian Brinkerhoff Poetry Foundation, on collaborative projects.
Required Skills and Qualifications
• Degree in library sciences
• Three years of experience working in related fields such as archives, library, media
• Mac and Windows OS Proficiency required
• Current valid driver’s license and right to work documents required
• Knowledge of classical music is preferred
• Familiarity with Adobe Premier, Photoshop, Lightroom, Davinci Resolve, Avid Protools would be advantageous
• Basic networking proficiency would be advantageous
• Ability to organize, plan ahead, and manage workload.
• Team player and a self-starter, able to work independently without constant supervision and in a team environment.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Position Summary
The Stage Manager will work with the Artistic Programs and Production Manager to plan, organize, and facilitate all rehearsal and performance logistics during the five-week concert season. This key position will interact with artists and guests alike, creating a positive, engaging, and welcoming concert experience. The Stage Manager will proactively lead the setup and breakdown of rehearsal and performance spaces, working confidently and independently on multiple tasks in a dynamic environment. Daily hours vary significantly and include weekends and evenings. Most importantly, the Stage Manager will be a team player and will be willing to collaborate, pitch in, and adapt with Tippet Rise.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist with the daily production needs of the concert season
• Be knowledgeable about concert programs, schedules, stage plots, logistics, etc.
• Participate in production meetings and attend team meetings
• Facilitate rehearsals (usually Wednesday-Saturday)
- Set up stage and attend rehearsals and tech consultations; take note of stage plots and equipment that will be needed for the performance
- Assist musicians, as needed
- Prepare all rehearsal spaces with equipment, proper layout, and refreshments
- Complete rehearsal-related tasks as requested, such as finding music stands, making sure musicians are ready to rehearse at the scheduled times, printing music, etc.
- Keep the rehearsal space clean and quiet
- Note and communicate any last-minute rehearsal changes to colleagues
• Facilitate performances (Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays)
- Responsible for maintaining green room, stocking refreshments and supplies, and ensuring space is clean and concert ready
- Ensure the performance space is properly set up for each concert in Tippet Rise’s indoor and outdoor venues, in close collaboration with other team members
- Support back-up plans for performances that move inside due to weather and implement changes as needed
- Help usher guests within each concert venue
- Set up and move equipment (music stands, chairs, pianos) as needed during the performance
- Lead communication with front-of-house staff, Artistic Programs and Production Manager, and AV team via radio before, during, and after performance; review any issues and make adjustments for future performances
- Strike stage at the end of each performance and ensure venue has been properly cleaned and reset
• Assist Artistic Programs and Production Manager when needed in the following ways:
- Support preparation for following concert week
- Occasionally transport visiting musicians or guests to and from the airport or to other destinations
- Help coordinate and assist musicians with dining and grocery needs (due to the rural location of Tippet Rise)
- Along with other Tippet Rise staff, help clean up after catered events, meals, post-concert gatherings, etc.

Employment Details
Terms: Full-Time Seasonal
Dates/Schedule: Monday, August 6 through Monday, September 16. The concert season runs from Friday, August 16 to Sunday, September 15, with performances on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. This position’s hourly schedule will vary week to week, usually Wednesday through Sunday.
Hourly Wage: The salary range for this position is $18-24.00 per hour. The salary represents Tippet Rise Art Center’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Open Position: Guest Services & Safety Team Member
Guest Services & Safety Team (GSST) Members are primarily responsible for controlling and monitoring access to the Tippet Rise Art Center by promoting safety and security for all employees, guest and other visitors, with fidelity to the Core Values. The main duty station for the GSST Member is the Front Gate of Tippet Rise Art Center. GSST Members will patrol Tippet Rise Art Center property and assist other departments as assigned. GSST Members will not be armed. Most importantly, the GSST Member will be a team player and will be willing to collaborate, pitch in, and adapt with Tippet Rise.

Guest Services
GSST Members may be the first people guests interact with from Tippet Rise Art Center. The way GSST Members meet and greet people will set the tone for their visit.
• Be welcoming and helpful, creating a positive Tippet Rise Art Center experience
• Interact with guests, initiating contact using diplomacy, tact and self-control
• Be friendly, clear and succinct in all instructions and communications
• Maintain a positive relationship with our neighbors and community
Guest Services
• Control access to Tippet Rise Art Center properties
• Prevent trespassing, vandalism, poaching, theft, violence and disruptive circumstances
• Monitor and observe all persons at Tippet Rise Art Center for safe, appropriate behavior
• Be proactive in the prevention of dangerous or undesirable situations
• Proactively report and document any threat or risk to Tippet Rise Art Center, its guests, performers, employees and/or properties, including activities, incidents and abnormal situations that may result in unsafe, adverse, illegal or undesirable outcomes
• Perform mobile and foot patrols of Tippet Rise Art Center properties as assigned
• Ensure Tippet Rise Art Center alarms and security systems are operational and in service
• Ensure all pertinent information is shared and recorded for other GSST members
• Complete and submit daily logs, notes and communications
Emergency Prevention & Response
• Be initial contact for responding emergency personnel and facilitate expedient access for emergency responders/vehicles
• Maintain knowledge of all Security and Emergency Operations protocols and procedures
• Respond to and assist in any security, medical or other emergency situation, as needed
• Intervene in any situation presenting immediate risk to persons or property, negatively impact guest experience, artist performance, employee job execution, or overall safety
• De-escalate conflicts and disturbances
• Facilitate the removal of undesirable persons from Tippet Rise Art Center properties
• Monitor security systems, cameras and alarms, respond to all alarms, calls and incidents
• Summon appropriate assistance from Tippet Rise Art Center employees and/or local emergency response agencies to control any unsafe or undesirable situation

Open Position: Visitor Center Assistant
The Visitor Center Assistant works closely with the Visitor Center Manager to facilitate a positive guest experience for visitors and special guests upon their arrival at the art center and throughout their visit. The Visitor Center Assistant will also work with other members of the Tippet Rise team including the Co-Directors and the Communication and Guest Experience Manager.
The Visitor Center Assistant will primarily be responsible for checking visitors in and out, familiarizing them with the art center and their planned activity (hiking, biking, van tour, concert, etc.), answering questions, selling merchandise, and generally helping our guests and visitors have a wonderful day and experience at Tippet Rise.
The Visitor Center Assistant will work both independently on tasks and collaboratively with co-workers. The position requires excellent customer service and organization skills with high attention to detail. Most importantly, the Visitor Center Assistant will be a team player and will be willing to collaborate, pitch in, and adapt, as needed, with Tippet Rise colleagues.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Meets with Visitor Center Manager daily to go over the guest list and plan for the Visitor Center operations ahead
• Create positive interactions with all visitors and special guests
• Check visitors in and out at the front desk
• Review and update daily visitor list and record
• Help solve visitor problems by working to create positive outcomes
• Answer visitor questions
• Communicate with tour guides, front gate security, and rangers via two-way radio, as needed
• Discuss and/or make recommendations for visiting hikers and cyclists by reviewing maps with them, discussing how best to achieve their goals for the day, keeping a record of the routes each group of hikers or bikers plans to take, and informing visitors of potential challenges or hazards
• Make sure guests have important information such as the need to bring water, food, sunscreen, appropriate clothing, and footwear out on the land

Open Position: Interpretive Ranger
The primary responsibility of the Interpretive Ranger is to create a positive, informative, and engaging experience for visitors to Tippet Rise by helping them with trail route selection, answering questions, promoting safety, and imparting knowledge about the sculptures and environment. In addition, the Interpretive Ranger will monitor the weather, wildlife, trail conditions, and other environmental factors; keep guests and co-workers informed of changing conditions; and take action where needed. The Interpretive Ranger will be outdoors for the entire workday and will physically monitor the trails regularly, making themselves visible and available to guests. Interpretive Rangers must have excellent guest service skills and enthusiasm for Tippet Rise, its vision, and art.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Create a positive experience for tour participants, hikers, and bikers by being helpful, kind, and informative; promote a safe and immersive guest experience.
• Learn and impart knowledge about the art center and its history, the art installations and artists, the surrounding environment and local history, and art center operations.
• Assist guests in planning their routes based on their goals and abilities, as well as other needs. Track and communicate the intended routes to other ranger staff.
• Promote guest safety by actively communicating hazards to guests and staff, including weather and environmental risks; enforcing art center policies; and keeping track of guests and their intended routes.
• Drive 11-person van used to assist and transport hikers to and from trails, as needed.
• Responsible for understanding and implementing the Tippet Rise Emergency Action Plans, as needed, and assisting with emergency response to your level of certification.
• Perform trail maintenance daily including trail checks, grading, raking, weed whacking, and erosion control.
• Assist in the maintenance of infrastructure including installing or cleaning of signs, stocking restrooms, and monitoring condition of sculptures.
• Assist as needed with various events at Tippet Rise during or outside of normal hours of operation, including concerts, special tours, photography/filming, theater or poetry programs
• Effectively communicate with a two-way radio.
Required Skills and Qualifications
• One year of experience as an Interpretive Ranger, outdoor educator, professional guide, or significant personal experience with outdoor work or recreation
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Excellent communication skills and ability to speak to and engage with the public
• Enthusiasm for Tippet Rise and its mission
• Ability to physically monitor the trails on challenging terrain by foot, mountain bike
• Emergency training preferred such as EMT, Wilderness First Responder, Outdoor Emergency Care, CPR, First Aid Training

• Work outdoors in all weather conditions for entire workday.
• Traverse up to 3 miles at a time, multiple times a day over rough terrain, without a vehicle.

Open Position: Tour Guide
The primary responsibility of the Tour Guide is to create a positive, informative, and engaging tour for groups of guests. The Tour Guide provides a 2.5-hour tour, two times per day, driving the art center’s 11-passenger vanto showcase the art center grounds and sculptures. (Tippet Rise is open to the public three days a week during the summer, on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.) The Tour Guide must have excellent guest service skills and enthusiasm for Tippet Rise, its vision, and art. Each Sculpture Van Tour includes stops at 5 to 6 of the art center’s monumental sculpture sites located across the ranch, with time for guests to walk up to the sculptures and take photos. The Tour Guide will provide verbal narration during each tour, providing insight on the art center and its history, the sculptures and artists, the land, and the region.

• Serve as a welcoming and knowledgeable guide and be ready to answer questions, assist guests with boarding and disembarking the van, and always maintain a kind demeanor.
• Learn and impart knowledge about the art center and its history, the art installations and artists, and the surrounding environment and local history. Tour Guides will also provide information about art center operations so as to adequately answer guest questions.
• Operate the Tippet Rise 12-person vans safely at all times and only on designated routes, as well as follow all Tippet Rise policies related to vehicle operation.
• Responsible for keeping all tours on schedule.
• Responsible for understanding and implementing the Tippet Rise Emergency Action Plans, as needed, and assisting in an emergency response, as requested.
• Assist as needed with various events at Tippet Rise during or outside of normal hours of operation, including concerts, special tours, photography/filming, theater or poetry programs
Required Skills and Qualifications
• Ability to work collaboratively in team environment
• Education in the arts or natural environment and/or similar work experience preferred
• Valid driver’s license with a clean current driving history and the ability to operate a 12-person van
• Excellent guest service skills and ability to create a positive rapport with guests
• Comfortable with public speaking
• Enthusiasm for Tippet Rise and its mission
• Emergency medical training, such as CPR, is a plus
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
• Works primarily outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to drive vehicle on gravel roads for extended periods of time
• Ability to get in and out of a vehicle and assist guests in and out of a vehicle repeatedly throughout the workday
• Ability to consistently traverse up to 300 yards on hilly terrain, without a vehicle, up to 12 times a day
Employment Details
Terms: Part-Time Seasonal
Dates: June 6th – August 24th, working weekends Friday-Sunday
(Occasional Thursday’s, last two weekends Saturday only)
Hourly Wage: The salary for this position is $18.00 per hour. The salary represents Tippet Rise Art Center’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
